One night, on an island surrounded by water and palms trees, a man contemplated the several caged iguanas before him in his backyard. He had collected the iguanas over the years for his grandson but, as fate would have it, the child had to move away and leave his pets behind.

The man looked around, realizing how close his island home’s environment was to the native lands of the lizards. Slowly he reached down … turning the latch on the cage, opening the door. The lizards slipped out and disappeared into the shadows.

Although the total population of iguanas is unknown, it is estimated that in just over 30 years time, that small group of iguanas has turned into tens of thousands and has taken over the landscape of a once-sleepy island village.

Like a hoard of  Locust they moved over the Island  eating every thing in sight. From their Island home they slipped on to the mainland  unleashing death and destruction on the Native Floridian wildlife. To save Florida from this marauding  invader. I say to you 'Eat an Iguana "

George is credited with the removal of 16,000 Iguanas from Boca Grande, Fl. The Iguana Cookbook is a compilation of George's thoughts and views of nature, Iguanas as pets, food, and an ominous warning about their impact on Florida's eco system.
Note from George: My goal was to keep this book light and fast reading. I hope that when you're done reading  it, you have questions.  That it will make want to go out  and explore nature and see its beauty for yourself and learn all that you possibly can about how it works and your place in it . Now, get out there! Flirt, Laugh, and Dance with our natural world!
